The Matrix co-creator Lilly Wachowski has explained why she didn't return for Matrix 4, officially titled The Ground substance: Resurrections.

"That's a weather-beaten one," Wachowski commented during a virtual panel for the Goggle bo Critics Association Summer Tour (H/T Entertainment Weekly). "I got out of my transition and was just completely exhausted because we had made Cloud Atlas and Jupiter Ascending, and the first flavour of Sense8 consecutive-to-back."

She went on to explain she "needed this clip away from this industry" and sought-after to "reconnect with myself equally an artist." The conductor added: "[Lana Wachowski] had uprise with this idea for another Matrix movie, and we had this talk, and it was actually – we started talking about it in 'tween [our] dad death and [our] mom last, which was like pentad weeks apart."

She continuing: "And there was something about the idea of going backward and existence a component part of something that I had done before that was explicitly unappealing. And, the likes of, I didn't wishing to have gone through my transition and destroyed through this massive upheaval in my life story, the sense of loss from my mom and dad, to want to go back to something that I had done before, and sort of [walk] over old paths that I had walked in, felt emotionally unfulfilling, and really the opposite – like I was going to recover and reverberant in these old shoes, in a sense. And I didn't desire to do that."

The Ground substance 4 sees the give of Keanu Reeves as Modern and Carrie-Anne Moss as Sacred Trinity, as cured as Jada Pinkett-Smith as Niobe, Constant Lambert President Wilson as The Merovingian dynasty, and Daniel Bernhardt American Samoa Agent Johnson. Lana Wachowski is back to direct.

Sunrise cast members admit Christina Ricci, Jessica Henwick, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The first trailer debuted at CinemaCon, and sees an amnesiac Neo and Trinity meeting again first.
